Crenshaw melon is a hybrid of Casaba and Persian melons, nicknamed the “Cadillac of Melons.” The Crenshaw has a waxy buttercup-yellow rind and tender juicy peach to salmon-pink flesh.Its tender peach-colored flesh is very sweet and slightly spicy. The melon's skin turns golden-yellow when mature and will have a slightly waxy feel. Crenshaw melons average 8 to 10 pounds weight wise.

Sunlight: Full sun

Soil requirement: humus, well drained and fertile soil

Sowing and cultivation: Start indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost. Sow 1.5 cm deep at 21C soil temperature. Direct sow in a polytunnel after last frost when soil temperature is over 21C. Melons love heat.
