This Italian heirloom variety produces yellow oval-shaped cherry tomatoes with an excellent taste that are famous for their organoleptic quality. The cherry bunches are typically harvested between July and August and tied and arranged together and left to hang in a well ventilated area, often in door porches or kitchens and kept over winter. These yellow cherry tomatoes with a pointy nipple are storage tomatoes as their thick, shiny skin, their low water content and firm pulp help protect the fruits and allow them to store for longer. The Piennolo del Vesuvio (or Napoletano) exists also in red. The plants produced profusely for us in Cork.
