The Cayenne chilli pepper is an old aromatic chilli pepper variety originating from South America, specifically from the city of Cayenne, capital of French Guiana. The Cayenne chilli pepper plant produces up to 40 fruits 15 to 25 cm long, sometimes curved, which turn red as they ripen. It has a great taste for cooking and to dry, making it popular amongst gourmets. The Cayenne chilli pepper has also been used for its medicinal properties. The Cayenne chilli pepper is a wonderful culinary chilli pepper with a rating of 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville heat units.
