Chia are the seeds of Salvia hispanica, a native flowering plant of Mexico. Chia seeds are tiny beige or black seeds resembling sesame seeds and are considered a superfood since they are very rich in fibres and omega 3. The young leaves are also edible and can be eaten raw in salads. Some people use also chia in herbal teas.
