Granny Cantrell's German tomato is a heirloom tomato variety with a rich history. In the 1940s, Lettie Cantrell of West Liberty, Kentucky, received seeds from a World War II soldier returning from Germany. She grew this tomato in her garden until her passing in 2005 at the age of 96.  This indeterminate, beefsteak-type tomato produces large, slightly flattened fruits that can weigh up to 2 pounds. The Granny Cantrell's German tomatoes have a pinkish-red hue, clear skin over red flesh, and a rich, sweet flavor. They are ideal for fresh consumption, slicing, cooking, and canning. Amateur Seeds grown and seed saved in Cork, Ireland, not certified for commercial use.
