Blue Lake Beans are a heirloom pole beans variety from the United States.  The plants produce large yields of straight and smooth pods setting all along the vine. Each pod measures about 6", Beans are dark green, string-less, firm, and straight. with a crisp tender texture and a sweet and mild flavour. These beans are considered a gourmet beans and are great in salads, steamed or stir-fried. They can also be used for preserving.

Soil requirement: Average, well-drained soil.

Sowing and cultivation: Start indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost. or Sow outdoors from May to July 2.5 cm deep and 7-10 cm apart around poles, trellis, or fence when danger of frost has passed and soil temperature is over 16C. A strong, sturdy trellis such as a fence panel to support the plant foliage is recommended.
