Gagon is a rare Bhutanese cucumber that thrives in northern climates. It is a great cucumber for eating raw or pickling when it is immature and green. When mature, it is very similar to the more common Indian variety ‘Poona Kheera’, but is darker-skinned, much bigger and taste like melon. The Gagon cucumber can be eaten raw, pickled or cooked in chutneys. It is a long season cucumber variety that will need about 90 days to produce fruits.
