Sow Diverse grew out of our personal journey with food and seeds. We (Ran and Pat) grew up in Africa, spending our summers on our grandparents’ farms, where growing food and saving seeds were simply part of everyday life. Those early experiences shaped our deep respect for biodiversity, flavour, and self-sufficiency.
After moving to Ireland in 2005, we continued growing our own food and searching for the diverse, heirloom seeds we remembered. When we couldn’t find them, we began experimenting ourselves with seeds from all over the world. Through years of trial and error, travel across Europe, and training in seed saving, beekeeping, and permaculture, we proved that diverse food crops can thrive in Ireland. In 2020, we left corporate life and founded Sow Diverse to protect seed diversity and empower others to grow food—wherever they are.
