Jacobs Cattle dried beans are excellent drying bean for baking and soups. Ancient heirloom from the US. Also known as Trout or Dalmatian bean, Jacob's cattle is a drying bean. It is a bush type variety.  It is one of the earliest beans to dry even in short season climates. An attractive combination of white and deep maroon that is excellent for baking and soups.

Soil requirement: rich and light

Sowing and cultivation: Sow seeds at 2.5-3 cm depth after all danger of frost has passed. Space seeds about 10 cm apart in rows that are 70 cm apart. Harvest dried pods before rains so seeds won't mold inside pods. Continue drying pods for 2-4 weeks under cover before shelling and storing.
