Aubergine A grappoli Sott'olio is an Italian variety that produces clusters of small elongated bright purple fruits each about 8 to 10 cm long and weighing about 50 to 70 g. The plant is compact while at the same time vigorous! The aubergines can be harvested at a young stage and are usually eaten fresh or preserved in oil. Grows best in the garden but can also be grown in containers and under cover in tunnels or greenhouses.  These aubergines are the Key ingredient of the Italian preserve Melanzane sott'olio (Aubergine in oil).

Soil requirement: Well-drained, medium-heavy, nutrient-rich soil

Sowing and cultivation: Sow from January to April under heated shelter at  a temperature of 20-22C. Transplant after all danger of frost has passed, Do not forget to stake.
