Syrian Green peas is the name given to a heirloom green pea variety originally from Syria. We were gifted these heirloom Syrian pea seeds sourced from a local seed conservation society. We have been amazed at their adaptation to Irish weather conditions and their productivity. The Syrian green peas not only yielded a lot, but there was no disease on the plants. And the flavor, wow! The sweetness and crispiness of the peas were exceptional. Each pea pod was bearing between 7 and 9 peas. We are experiencing first hand that varieties not grown originally here are performing fabulously, if not better, than the varieties we have grown in the past. This is a true testimony of the seed and plant resilience, in very different conditions than the ones they grew in. This teaches us to be humble and not assume beforehand that things will not work. Seeds grown and seed saved in Cork, Ireland.
