Purple Smaragd tomato is an indeterminate heirloom variety originating from Wienerwald, Austria. This vibrant tomato has purple fruits with green stripes and a pointed end, weighing up to 120 grams. With a mild, sweet flavor and juicy, non-floury flesh, it is perfect in salads or sliced and can even be used in sauces. The wispy foliage and abundant production from mid-season to frost make it a must-have for any garden. Seeds grown and seed saved in Cork, Ireland.

Soil requirement: well draining and rich

Sowing and cultivation: Sow in pots from March, at a temperature between 16 and 20°C, under a well-lit shelter, 5 weeks before planting. Transplant the entire root ball in the ground, after the last frosts, at a minimum distance of 50 cm, burying the stem up to the first leaves. Water thoroughly when planting.
