Heirloom tomato from America, 1870's

Amish Paste Tomato is a heirloom from America, 1870's. The origin of this strain is said to be from the Amish communities in Wisconsin but discovered among the Amish of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Sweeter than other paste tomatoes, the shape can vary from large plum to tear-drop. Juicy, 225 to 340 g fruits with meaty flesh and very little seeds; wonderful as a tomato sauce, in soups, in salads, for slicing or canning.
