Very rare broccoli for wonderful color in the fall garden
Santa Teresa Blue broccoli is also called "broquil morado", or "broquil blau". This broccoli originates from the Catalan region, in Spain. It is a forgotten variety only grown in some family gardens. It is characterized by its purple color head and blue-ish purple leaves, a compact shape and small size. It is traditionally sown between July and August, then transplanted and harvested from early October. The harvest starts on the feast of Santa Teresa, in October hence the name. Enjoy its simple taste by steaming it for 5 min and drizzling with olive oil. This variety is very rare as its existence is threatened by cross-pollination with other broccoli and cauliflower varieties. Great for autumn and winter planting.
