Bleu de Solaise leek is a traditional French variety originating from Solaise in the Lyon region. Its leaves take deep blue-green nuance when it reaches maturity. The Bleu de Solaise leek is a winter variety and is very similar to the Saint Victor leek as they both resist the cold very well. It is great for regions with short seasons.

Soil requirement: Light, well drained

Sowing and cultivation: To sow from February to April and harvest from October. Sow indoors covering the seeds with 0.5 cm of soil, tamp the soil and keep it cool. When the plants have reached the size of a pencil, shorten the leaves and transplant every 10 to 12 cm, in furrows 10 cm deep, spaced 30 cm apart. It is also possible to sow directly in the ground, in lines 30 cm apart.
