The Alforja Broad Bean, a traditional Spanish fava bean, is resistant to frost and ideal for autumn and winter planting. Its large and meaty beans are perfect for cooking in stews or on their own. This versatile crop is a great addition to any garden or farm.

Soil requirement: Grow in light, well-drained soil

Sowing and cultivation: Sow in spring and/or autumn. For summer harvest, Sow in Feb/March. Harvest in the spring or early summer. Sow outdoor in the Spring when soil temperatures reach 15-16 degrees C.Sow 10-15cm apart. Harvest from early summer. For winter harvest, Sow seed direct in the ground in October and November 5cm (2") deep, spacing of 20cm (8") with 60cm (2ft) row gap (minimum). Sow in double rows at least 30 cm apart. If planting more than one double row allow a metre between them.Need staking.
