Atomic Red Carrot is a heirloom that is said to originate from Asia in the 17th Century. The Atomic Red carrots have a dark red skin, a bright red-orange core and a long sized-root that can grow to roughly 10" long. They have a crisp texture and a sweet flavor. These carrots are particularly high in the red pigment lycopene and their red color goes deeper when cooked.
