The Bloody Butcher tomato is a very early season variety perfect for short growing seasons and cool regions. The Bloody Butcher open-pollinated tomatoes are golf ball size and ripen to a deep red color, with an intense heirloom tomato taste, meaty and juicy making it ideal for eating raw, slicing or in salads. The Bloody Butcher tomato is said to be a heirloom variety however according to Tatiana's tomato database, it was introduced by K. Sahin, Zaden B.V. in 1998, in the Netherlands, LY-3910, and may have been bred by Tom Wagner. We are choosing to consider them as heirloom as they have been around for a while and certainly have the heirloom tomato flavor.
