Caraway is also called Meridian Fennel or Persian Cumin and is very similar in appearance to a carrot plant. Caraway produces crescent-shaped seeds around 2 mm long which have a strong flavour. Caraway is used in cooking and in sauerkraut, flavour liquors, casseroles and stews and the young leaves can be used in salads.
