The Candystick Dessert Delicata winter squash is a variety bred by Carol Deppe and Nate France. The Honey-boat type squash weights between 2 to 3 pounds on average, the skin is orange-tan with green stripes. The flesh is dry, rich and very sweet making it ideal for making desserts. The Delicata Candystick Dessert squash is larger and sweeter than the other varieties of Delicata. Some would say it tastes like medjool dates. Certainly something we could see fit for a sweetie pie. This variety has been pledged to the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI)
OSSI is working to maintain fair and open access to plant genetic diversity worldwide and ensuring freedom to use these resources for farmers, gardeners, breeders, and communities of this and future generations. Free the Seed!
