Hida Beni turnip (Kabu) is a Japanese traditional vegetable, grown in the Hida region of Gifu prefecture. This traditional Japanese turnip has a scarlet skin and produces a flattened half-globe shaped root . The flesh is white, mild and has good texture. This turnip grows well in cool conditions and is best picked young. Great for pickling. Please note only one packet per order.

Indicative Days to maturity: 40-60 days

Sunlight: full sun

Soil requirement: fertile, well drained

Sowing and cultivation: Sow seeds in spring or late summer/early fall for winter harvest. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Plant every 2 weeks for continuous harvest. Cool temperatures improve the quality and flavor of turnips. Sow 3/5cm apart, thin to 12-15 cm apart.
