Illini Gold is a golden-orange paste tomato developed in Illinois by seed breeders Merlyn and Mary Ann Niedens from a natural cross of Dad's Sunset and Bisignano #2. Introduced commercially in 2009, it's prized by sauce makers and seed savers for its meaty, low-acid flesh and rich, sweet flavor. This indeterminate, productive variety produces medium-sized, smooth, golden plum-shaped fruit with abundant flesh and few seeds — ideal for bright yellow sauces, roasting, and fresh eating. Seeds grown and seed saved in Cork, Ireland. Amateur seeds not certified for commercial use.
