The large summer leek is a very early French traditional variety of leek. The white stalk can become very bulky. The foliage is light green. This leek is great steamed and served with a French vinaigrette dressing once it has cooled down.

Sowing and cultivation: Sow from March to May and harvest from August. Summer leeks are sown in a warm layer (14-16°C) in February-March.
