Castelfranco Variegated Chicory or Raddichio is an italian heirloom variety from the are of castelfranco In the Veneto region of Italy. The Castelfranco chicory variety produces big flower shaped radicchio heads, with stunning variegated leaves, mostly green with red speckles. The leaves taste a bit bittersweet. They are great in salads, roasted or sautéed and will add a beautiful touch of color to your plate in Autumn or spring. The radicchio is a cool season crop, and can be planted all year round in climates where the winter is not hard.
