Oaxacan Green dent corn is a heirloom dent corn variety from the Zapotec people in Mexico. This dent corn variety is used to make dent corn flour. cornmeal, green tortillas and Mexican green masa or tamales . The Oaxacan green dent corn stalks can reach 2 meters and produce ears up to 25 cm long with large smooth and shiny green bronze to green emerald kernels. The hardened cobs can be used as decorations when left to dry or the kernels ground into cornmeal. The Oaxacan Green dent corn has a nutty rich flavor and is often grown for the taste rather than the productivity. The hardy and early ripening Oaxacan green dent corn adapts to a range of climates.

Soil requirement: Well drained, fertile and light

Sowing and cultivation: Sow directly in place, after the last frosts, 1 seed every 30 cm, in rows 70 cm apart. Cover the seeds with 3 cm of fine soil. Mound the feet when they reach 15 to 20 cm high.
