Beautiful and nutritious amaranth

Dreadlock amaranth is a small variety that produces drooping “Foxtail” type panicles which seem to be made up of large pearls strung one after the other. It is eaten as a cereal or grounded to make flour. It is gown in Nepal, India and parts of Africa.

Soil requirement: well draining and rich

Sowing and cultivation: Sow in trays, under a very bright shelter. Cover the seeds very lightly and keep moist. When the plants have 3 to 4 leaves, transplant in pots or in the ground, in well warmed soil, 60 cm in all directions. It is also possible to sow directly in place, in rows spaced 60 cm apart. Thin out to 60 cm on the row.
