Lemongrass is used widely in asian cooking. This plant does not stand frost so should be grown in a container allowing it to move indoor during winter.

Sowing and cultivation: Sow indoor from March to April. In the spring, surface sow seeds thinly on the soil, pressing them down gently to ensure they are in good contact with the compost and water from beneath by placing the pot in a saucer of water. when seedlings are large enough to handle, place in bigger pot by a frost-free windowsill. Move plants back indoors in late summer, putting it in a bright, cool position and reduce watering, keeping the compost just moist. When foliage starts to turn brown in autumn, cut back foliage to 10cm. In spring, feed plant with fertiliser.
