Tromboncino squash is an Italian Heirloom squash variety. This variety is also called zucchetta rampicante, zucchino rampicante, trombolino d'albenga, trombetta d'Albenga and serpentine squash. The saying goes that is it called tromboncino as it curves like a trombone when grown at ground level. The fruits are light green and grow long, curving to a bell at one end. The taste is often compared to the taste of artichokes. It is great harvested as a summer squash. If left on the vine to mature. the skin will ripen to a peachy tan similar to the butternut squash. The long neck is seedless and all the seeds are at the bottom of the squash. Very productive squash.
