A fava bean for late sowing
The Tugas Broad Bean is a Spanish variety known for its long pods that typically contain 7 seeds. The beans have a well-defined shape and a thin skin, making them ideal for colder climates or late plantings. They can be cooked in stews, soups, and pasta dishes, or used to make dips, patties, and hummus. They can also be enjoyed raw when young in salads or incorporated into recipes such as broad bean risotto. These beans provide a rich source of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and proteins, making them a valuable addition to any diet. With their ability to thrive in cold weather, broad beans are a great choice for growing in Ireland, especially for autumn and winter planting.
